The Professional Standards Authority for Health and Social Care (PSA) launched a public consultation on two pieces of draft guidance we have developed to support the healthcare professional regulators make best use of the new powers they will receive as part of the Department of Health and Social Care’s regulator reform programme.

The Professional Standards Authority for Health and Social Care (PSA) launched a public consultation on two pieces of draft guidance we have developed to support the healthcare professional regulators make best use of the new powers they will receive as part of the Department of Health and Social Care’s .

The new powers will affect wgŠÊ˜·³Ç members because they will in time be rolled out to all healthcare professional regulators including the General Medical Council, Nursing and Midwifery Council, Health and Care Professions Council, General Pharmaceutical Council, General Dental Council and others under the PSA’s oversight. The reforms to regulators’ legislation will give them greater freedom to decide how they operate, including the flexibility to set and amend their own rules. It will also create an entirely new process for handling fitness to practise cases (the process by which concerns about healthcare professionals are dealt with) allowing concerns about professionals to be dealt with outside of a public hearing using a new process called ‘Accepted Outcomes’.
